I am delighted to announce that we have moved the bogleheads.org server into luxurious accommodations in one of the finest hosting facilities in the world. It now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the auspices of SWITCH.COM. If computers had a heaven, it would look like this facility. Rejoice! – Larry Auton, co-founder of bogleheads.org.
For some time, the Bogleheads.org site (forum and wiki) has been experiencing an increase in slow response times and occasional dropouts. These problems were not from the server, but from an unreliable connection over the server’s ISP (Internet Service Provider), Comcast.
Larry Auton, co-founder of Bogleheads.org (mingstar in the Bogleheads forum), fixed the ISP problem by moving the server to a new location which does not depend on Comcast.
Moving the server
On January 22, 2017, the server was shipped to its new home. The site was temporarily transferred to a different server so we could continue operating.
After arriving at its new home and given a clean bill of health, the temporary site was transferred back to the permanent server. The server resumed operation on February 11, 2017.
Our new home
Here’s our new home, also called a co-location facility.

Switch LAS VEGAS 8 – The Core Campus, Las Vegas, Nevada
This is Switch, a global technology company whose core business is the design, construction and operation of ultra-advanced data centers, enabling the most powerful technology ecosystems on the planet.
The Bogleheads.org server’s internet connection is peered with the backbones at the highest levels, less than two milliseconds from Level 3.
